27 May Triber of the week – Abdullah Bankole
Hi, can we meet you?
I am Abdullah Oreoluwa Bankole. I work as a Data Analyst at Quantum Analytics NG, where I facilitate the training of SQL. Within a year at QA, I have been able to tutor about 2000 Data Analytics enthusiasts on PostgreSQL, MS-SQL Server, MySQL and Google BigQuery with learners spanning over 10 countries, including the USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Canada and Australia.
Hello Bankole, that’s amazing! We are excited to have you here. Can you tell us one quote that inspires you?
Thank you for having me here. I have more than one inspiring quote
- If I fail, I fail forward
- What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
Love it! BANKOLE, We would like to know about your SQL JOURNEY. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT IT?
My Data journey started during covid. I am from an embedded electronics and robotics background, and I wanted to make money during the covid period. I started thinking about what I could do that would bring the cool cash. There were a lot of free courses at the time, so I decided to learn more about data analysis. I started with Kirill Eremenko’s course on Udemy. It was superb and mind-blowing. That was where I had my first interaction with SQL. Since then, it’s been the way up!
THAT IS super awesome. So what inspired you to learn SQL?
My love for Excel actually made me learn. Also, to see something that can be faster and smoother was lovely. Most people complain that SQL is a bit difficult to learn. Then I said to myself, if people can complain about it this much, fewer people might actually be into it. That was how I decided to carve my name into the SQL Rock!
We hope to join you in the SQL Rock soon. We would like to know you a little bit better. Can you tell us your favourite TV show of all time?
Game of Thrones. I have watched it from top to bottom at least 8 times!
WOW, YOU’re probably the biggest fan we’ve ever met! Who are the three people who inspire you in any industry and why?
- Alhaji Taoheed Immaculate Bankole, My Dad. He is a seasoned educational administrator. He is also my number one gist partner and life coach.
- Professor Musa Abiodun Aibinu. He’s my mentor and current Vice-Chancellor, Summit University Offa. He is a great mentor who fueled me the spirit of being diligent at whatever I do. He has a saying that I hold dearly: If you can’t explain it in plain layman terms, you don’t know it.
- Ọlawale Ọlọfọrọ popularly known as Brymo – His Music!
Thank you for sharing, Can you tell us what you do for fun?
I watch series and live primarily on Twitter as well.
That is lovely. Would you like to tell us the one thing you’re looking forward to achieving soon?
To become a Microsoft Certified Trainer.
Great! We wish you the very best. Lastly, we would like to know about your time as a member of the SQLTribe community.
I just joined recently, and I must say I am glad to be amidst this great community. Everyone was welcoming. I also love the trivia questions. They make me brush up on my knowledge of SQL.
Thank you for your feedback. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. Have a lovely day!
